KPI & Best Practice Approach

Key Performance Indicators

Used to gauge and monitor the performance of the business and its employees in completing specific business tasks. KPI tasks can be varied and set by business decision makers depending on the performance and tasks throughout the business that need to be managed.
KPI's are often set at two levels, a benchmark and a target KPI, the latter aimed at giving employees a goal to aspire to, the former as a minimum standard. If the minimum KPI is not met, WorkXact has the facilities to notify whoever responsible for monitoring performance and bring it to their attention.

Particular KPIs may be:

  • Ensuring that Job stages are met or scheduled for on or before the due date
  • Keeping the actual completion time beneath the estimated completion time
  • Ensuring a sales person is meeting a set budget each month
  • Ensuring that a set amount of dollars are invoiced each period
  • Ensuring jobs are meeting set margin targets each month

Best Practice Approach

Defining the best practice approach within an organisation is defining the "optimal process to deliver the results required". Often within business, best practice is gauged on;

  • Timeliness, ensuring that the process is completed in a method that is superior to others methods based on time to complete. Ie, because of following best practice approach the task is completed faster.
  • Cost, supplying the set task in the best practice approach results in the task costing less to perform than it otherwise would have. Ie, by scheduling the closest employee to the job reduced the amount of travel cost.
  • Delivery, to the end customer in the best possible way for the customer. Ie, using superior components rather than cheaper components means the customer receives a superior product.
  • Ethically, the approach taken to complete this task is considered more ethical and therefore best practice. Ie, rather than continue to bill a customer once a periodic contract has expired the customer is contacted and informed that the contract has expired.

Through the use of production units, project management items, task lists and countless other features within WorkXact, best practice approaches can be designed, setup and managed so that a best practice approach can be followed and refined.
